PRODUCT

The expansion of existing production lines for spreads and sauces to include an organic product (margarine) usually requires an aseptic production line, as the margarine and packaging come into contact with other products during filling. Cleanrooms were not an option – VIROBUSTER® established hybrid process solutions in conjunction with the existing facility.

PROCESS

VIROBUSTER® Steritubes were installed in the central HVAC system as well as in standalone island solutions. They maintain overpressure in the margarine tanks, supply enclosed conveyor belts with germ-free air, and feed the filling system via direct connection to the VIROBUSTER® system through an air shower with sterile overpressure.

ECONOMY

The Steritubes can be selectively (de-)activated: when organic products are produced, the hybrid production line can switch from low- and medium-care to high-care. This allows for the omission of preservatives, improved recipes, and extended shelf life. Compared to an aseptic or cleanroom solution, only a fraction of the investment, operating, and maintenance costs are incurred.
