Potato products of various sizes and shapes are blanched and then distributed to supermarkets and wholesalers as frozen or chilled goods.
The products leave the blanching unit in a sterile state and are cooled down in a closed, enclosed conveyor system before being packaged under protective atmosphere or deep-frozen in another tunnel. The supply and recirculated air, treated to be germ-free for these processes, prevents biological spoilage from the outset.
Longer shelf life, in addition to improved appearance and texture, ultimately leads to lower costs: recalls and waste are reduced, new export and organic markets can be accessed, and weekend work is reduced or completely avoided.
